Get to know our 2025 Mountain Games Athlete Team! In the lead-up to the 2025 GoPro Mountain Games, we will introduce you to each of our nine Mountain Games-sponsored athletes. This vibrant team embodies our core values: a passion for human-powered mountain sports, an active outdoor lifestyle, eco-consciousness, and a spirit of adventure.
Dax Macomber is the youngest member of our Athlete Team. At just 11 years old, this Coloradan lives for the great outdoors. He adores hanging out with his dogs and cooling off in crystal-clear rivers. From an early age, he’s been passionate about biking, whether it’s mountain biking or BMX racing. Recently, Dax discovered dirt jumping, where he feels the most alive, energized, and free. As the seasons change, you’ll find him skiing down snowy slopes and playing hockey, eagerly embracing every thrilling adventure that comes his way. Read on to learn more about Dax.

Q: What is your favorite mountain moment?
A: My favorite mountain moment was when I got to snowmobile up with one of my friends and he and I built a jump and I got to learn my first backflip.
Q: If you could take any three items on a mountain adventure with you, what would they be?
A: It would be probably my bike, some snacks, and probably water.
Q: What is your secret skill or hidden talent?
A: My secret skill or hidden talent would probably be splatter painting.
Q: What is your go-to mountain snack?
A: M&M’s!
Q: Who is your ultimate mountain hero?
A: Kai Jones.
Q: If you weren’t doing your go-to sport, what would you be doing instead?
A: I would probably be at a mall, shopping.
Q: What is the most epic thing you’ve done in the mountains so far?
A: Getting to learn my first cork 7 [720-degree rotation]. Haven’t landed it yet, but almost!
Q: If you could give advice to someone new in your sport, what would it be?
A: I would help them dirt jump. I would say don’t pedal in between jumps — if you had one jump and then another jump close to that jump, I wouldn’t pedal because that would probably just mess you up.
Q: What is your favorite way to unwind after a big event?
A: Mine would probably be go home, pop some popcorn, sit on the couch and watch “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn.”
Q: What would your dream mountain adventure look like?
A: Probably a heli-ski in Alaska or getting to ride Red Bull Rampage.
Q: What made you fall in love with your sport?
A: Getting to be free and getting to do whatever I wanted on the jumps.
Q: What makes the Mountain Games so special?
A: Getting to go cool places, getting to do all the cool events they have and getting to see the other events. And the music!
Q: What are you looking forward to at this year’s Mountain Games?
A: Getting to do all the biking comps, the Jump Jam, the Dual Slalom, and getting to see the slackline events and the music.
Q: If you had a tagline for yourself, what would it be?
A: It would probably be “making crashes look better.” That’d be it.
