Running at the GoPro Mountain Games is reaching new heights. Following record-breaking participation and sold-out events in 2024, organizers are expanding athlete caps for 2025, allowing even more runners to take on the challenge when the Mountain Games return to Vail June 5-8.

“With runners of all skill levels drawn to these events, running has solidified its place as a premier sport at the GoPro Mountain Games,” said Sarah Franke, senior vice president of operations for the Vail Valley Foundation, which organizes the GoPro Mountain Games each year. “The surge in participation reflects a growing trend in endurance sports, and we’re excited to meet the demand with expanded race opportunities.”
The festival’s popular running events—including the adidas TERREX Après 5K, Sunday Funday 5K, 10K Spring Runoff, 20K Trail Run, adidas TERREX Pepi’s Face-Off, Nature Valley Mountain Mud Run, and BFGoodrich Rocky Dog Fun Run—saw overwhelming turnouts last year. Early registration is encouraged, as spots are expected to fill quickly.
